Pets need "stuff" too!
Our "want list" also includes YOU.

We DESPERATELY need volunteers to help at the shelter!

Do you have more time than money at the moment?  Do you love animals but
can't foster any right now? We would love to have you as a volunteer at the
shelter. You'll never be rewarded as wonderfully as you are when you arrive at
the shelter, open a kennel door and have a dog dancing at your feet, ready to
walk and be petted. Or that cat who is so grateful for a clean litter box that the
fresh food is ignored until the box is appreciatively used.
:-)
If you love animals, the animals need you as much as we do. It's not just about
cleaning and feeding
but giving love and attention to all these dogs and cats,
love they need and deserve.
It's about going to mobile adoptions and seeing
the lights in people's eyes when they adopt a pet.
It's about seeing the
eagerness and happiness of a pet going to a new home.
It's about seeing our
work continue to grow so that the animals will always have our help and love on
their side.

It's about making a difference.
Call us, join us, please!
Thank YOU!
Donation Jars for CCHS are at the Green Iguana in Port
Lavaca. If your business would like to have one of our jars placed
with you, please let us know. We appreciate every bit of money you
place in these jars. We're adopting out so many good animals, we
hope you'll continue to "adopt us."
 THANK YOU!

Hey, pets need
"stuff" too!
For ME?
THANKS!!
A new, BIG food bowl,
just what I wanted -
thank you!
The biggest wish we have is that you will
find a place in your heart and home for one
of our wonderful companion animals.
There are few rewards greater than
adopting a dog or cat that will live because
of YOU!
Are we happy or what?
Well, you just never
know what we do
when you're not
looking....: - )
AND REMEMBER....
AND
DOGS,
PLEASE!!!!
The Ten Commandments of Pet Ownership

(originally written for dog owners but most of it applies to all pets, adapted from
various versions available online):

[1]  When you adopt me my life is likely to last 15 to 20 years. Please don't
forsake me, any separation from you will be very painful.

[2]  Please give me time to understand what it is you want from me. Change
can be more difficult for me than for you.

[3]  Please trust me and help me to trust you...it is crucial for my well being as
well as yours.

[4]  Don't be angry with me for too long, and don't lock me up as punishment.
You have your work, your friends, your entertainment. I have only YOU.

[5]  Talk to me. Even if I don't understand your words, I understand your voice
when you're speaking to me.

[6]  Be aware that however you treat me, I'll never forget it.

[7]  Before you hit me, remember that I have teeth that could easily crush the
bones in your hand, but I choose not to hurt you.

[8]  Before you scold me for being lazy or uncooperative, ask yourself if
something might be bothering me. Is there another reason for my behavior?
Perhaps I'm not getting the right food or I've been out in the sun too long and
maybe my heart is getting old and weak. Try to understand what it is like to be
me.

[9]  Please take care of me when I get old. Don't abandon me for you, too, will
grow old.

[10]  Go with me on difficult journeys. Never say, "I can't bear to watch it" or
"Let it happen in my absence."  I need you with me even at the end of my
journey. Please always do what is best for me even if it is unbearable for you
to do so -
because I love you and trust that you will.
Our animals need many things. Some of these items  are:

Pedigree
adult dog chow and Pedigree puppy chow
Purina cat chow and Purina kitten chow
Dog collars and leashes
Pet crates (carriers)
Fold and carry kennels
Gift certificates

And never forget our biggest need, VOLUNTEERS - how about
YOU
?
Christmas was celebrated in a new way this
year by the Meyer family, Richard and Jackie,
and their five grandchildren. They wanted to
give food for the dogs at the shelter so a
large sack was donated by each grandchild,
a very loving gesture and greatly
appreciated!
